| ART AND DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS (ages 6 -11) |
| What do Colour, Texture, Shape, Space and Line all have in
common? These are the fundamentals of all art and design. In this
enriching course children will explore these elements of design in
many different projects. This is a wonderful introduction to drawing,
painting, printmaking, sculpture and the process of invention. Using
pencil, pastel, watercolour, acrylics, ink, and plaster children will learn
to produce unique works. Students will also be exposed to at least
one form of printmaking each term, taking drawing to a different
level. Projects will also focus on problem solving, media literacy, and
design technology. |

Art for Art’s Sake will enable children to expand their
art knowledge and explore variety of media and
techniques. We will study a work of an artist as our starting
point and using different materials each week such as
paint, charcoal, pastel, clay, wire, old photos, found
objects and so on, we will make our own interpretation
of that work. The course will focus on developing basic
skills and individual expression while experimenting with
sculpture, print making, drawing, painting and more! |

| Learn how to design, draw and create a fashionable figure. Projects
will include, modern dress, accessories, historical and theatrical
costuming! Students will learn how to make stylized renderings of
their own unique clothing designs on the figure. The use of contour
line, colour theory, presentation skills, mapping the face, texture
and patterning will be explored to create great layout boards. A
combination of mixed media including watercolour, paint, pen,
coloured pencils and markers, as well as pastels will be used. |
