March Break Family Sunday!

“Around the World in Two Hours”

This is an art from elsewhere adventure. A diverse collection of mixed media crafts. This is a cultural feast of Bronwen’s favorites from around the world. Also an environmentally friendly way to travel!

March Break 2010 at Art Works Art School offers an array of exciting, creative and fun projects for children ages 4 to 11 years old. Using a variety of materials and techniques, students will explore drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, as well as arts and crafts. They will make truly unique and beautiful creations that they can be proud to display. The week rounds out with a scheduled art exhibition at 11:50 am for morning camps and 3:20 pm for afternoon camps. Half day and full day programmes are available.



TIMES:
AM PROGRAM: 9:30 am-12:00 noon
PM PROGRAM: 1:00 pm-3:30 pm
*FULL DAY: 9:00 am-4:00 pm
(full day students may register for different am and pm programs.)


FEES:
Half Day Programs: $198.00/week (includes GST, Materials and a Snack)
*Full Day Program: $372.00/week (includes GST, Materials and a Snack)

After and Before care: 8:30-9:00am $20 for the week 4:00pm-5:00pm $40 for the week

*Note: Full Day programs are only offered to 6-11 year olds.

"MAGICAL MASKS"

Masks have existed as long as humans have been telling stories. Learn about traditional masks from around the world, from Noh Theatre in Japan to Tribal Masks of Africa to North American Native masks. Using a variety of techniques, make traditional ritualistic masks, and original whimsical theatrical masks!


KINDER KIDS, ages 4 to 7 (AM & PM)

INSTRUCTOR: Lauren McKinley Renzetti

“DRAWASAURUS”

They walked the earth millions of years ago, and were as big as your house. Dare to draw dinosaurs using ovals, triangles and lots of wavy lines. Make a giant tooth, dinosaur mask, a plaster foot print, cave wall, and a dinosaur, inside and out complete with habitat. (While learning about dinosaurs we will also learn about aspects of creating texture, mark making, problem solving, scissor work as well as carving and painting techniques.)


CHILDREN, ages 6 to 11 (AM & PM)

INSTRUCTOR: Olga Lysenko

“POP ART: FROM ORDINARY TO EXTRAORDINARY”

Make sensational art out of everyday objects, cartoons and advertising.Design a pop-up art card using Keith Haring’s iconic symbols (such as barking dogs and flying saucers) for inspiration. Follow in the footsteps of the legendary Pop star, Andy Warhol, by making prints of products and celebrities. In the style of Jasper Jones, pay homage to targets, plaster casts and the humble coat hanger.
