art Works art School

is a community based art school whose mandate is to introduce adults, teens and children to the enriching world of art in a positive, supportive and healthy environment. Art Works Art School is located in the historic Baby Point Gates BIA District of Toronto, four blocks north of the Jane Subway Station between Bloor and Annette Streets, Bloor West Village and The Junction. Free parking is available on Jane Street and neighboring side streets. Art Works Art School also houses the Frank Hoff Library (a resource library), Art Works Art Gallery, and Art Works Art Store, where you can purchase retail art supplies. Adult Programs offer a variety of painting and drawing classes for the beginner as well as the more experienced artist in a supportive and structured environment. Teen Programs focus on developing technique and encouraging confidence with the medium of choice. Several of our programs focus on portfolio preparation for high school, college and university for ages 11 and up. Children’s Programs provide art instruction for children aged 4-12 years with special emphasis on the development of visual awareness, elements of art and design, personal expression, confidence in problem solving, improved self-esteem, imagination and comfort with materials. March Break and Summer Camps: We have both half day and full day programs available. March Break 2020 corresponds with the TDSB/TCDSB holiday schedule and runs March 16-20, 2020 inclusive. Independent school dates are corresponding. Camp ages for March Break are for 4-6, 6-9 and 8-12 years. (For summer camp information, please refer to our Summer Camp Calendar.)

Our instructors are all qualified teachers who receive enthusiastic reviews from their students. We consistently have more than ½ of our classes filled with returning students. In addition to long term courses, Art Works seeks to involve the community through a range of art related activities, family art days, lectures, workshops, art clubs, exhibitions and open houses.

Volunteer Opportunities are available for high school students needing their community service hours, coop students, internships and graduates seeking to gain experience before teachers college. We offer a wide range and level of opportunities as technicians, teaching assistants, gallery assistants and administrative assistants.
