Learn the life skill of Sewing! Through this 4-workshop course, you will learn sewing skills to fix your own clothes for a lifetime.

Have you ever thrown out clothes you loved because of a rip? It no longer fits? Missing button? Through the Sewing BASICS course, you may gain the skills to fix your clothes yourself!

4 workshops. 2 hours each workshop. Different topics each week.

Location: ArtWorks Art School, 256 Lansdowne Ave

Workshop Dates:

  1. Tuesday November 8th, 6:30-8:30PM

  2. Tuesday November 15th, 6:30-8:30PM

  3. Tuesday November 22nd, 6:30-8:30PM

  4. Tuesday November 29th, 6:30-8:30PM

Sewing BASICS course topics include:

  • Essential handstitches

  • How to take body measurements

  • How to fix holes, rips and frays

  • How to sew buttons and clasps

  • Resizing pants, shorts, skirts

  • Resizing tops

  • How to hem pants, shorts, skirts

  • How to hem and shorten sleeves

  • Basic embroidery and patchwork

Each class will focus on a different topic and give you the opportunity to get firsthand experience fixing your own clothes with individual guidance from @bymonina.

*The Sewing BASICS course is the precursor to the Sewing ADVANCED course. In the Sewing ADVANCED course, you will learn how to upcycle clothing, transform pieces and learn how to draft patterns from clothes you own.
